Alexey Kosarev is a distinguished Russian tenor celebrated for his rich, expressive voice and compelling stage presence. He graduated from the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music in Moscow in 1993, where he majored in Acting and Voice. Over the course of his operatic career, Alexey performed leading roles in renowned opera houses across Europe, including Finnish National Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Norwegian National Opera, Opernhaus Zürich, and the Opéra National de Paris. His repertoire features challenging roles such as Sergei in Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, Hoffmann in Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Calaf in Turandot, Otello in Verdi’s Otello, Boris in Katya Kabanova, and many others.
 
Alexey has collaborated with some of the most respected conductors of his time, including Mstislav Rostropovich, Tomas Hanus, and Oleg Caetani, and has worked under visionary directors like Dimitry Bertman, Willy Decker, and Ole Anders Tandberg. His interpretative depth and vocal versatility have earned him acclaim in both Russian and European opera circles.
 
In recent years, Alexey has transitioned towards the crossover genre, combining his classical vocal technique with contemporary musical styles. This shift reflects his desire to reach wider audiences and explore new artistic horizons. His concerts blend elements of classical, pop, jazz, and world music, creating a unique sound that resonates with diverse listeners. enable him to connect deeply with a broad range of audiences and collaborators. He continues to push artistic boundaries, striving to bring heartfelt emotion and technical excellence to every performance.
Currently based in Freiburg, Germany, Alexey performs regularly at prestigious venues and festivals, collaborating with some of the finest musicians and ensembles. His projects include innovative concert programs that highlight the fusion of classical and modern music, often featuring original arrangements and improvisations. Alexey is also passionate about music education and frequently conducts masterclasses and workshops for young singers, sharing his expertise in vocal technique and performance artistry.
Fluent in Russian, German, English, Italian, and French, Alexey’s international background and linguistic skills enable him to connect deeply with a broad range of audiences and collaborators. He continues to push artistic boundaries, striving to bring heartfelt emotion and technical excellence to every performance.
